- In the 2005 BMW Asian Open, two hole-in-ones were carded… in consecutive rounds. Peter O’Malley holed his tee shot at the 8th in the first round of the tournament, on April 28. On the very next day, Constantino Rocca repeated the feat at the 3rd.
- Miguel Angel Jimenez is the oldest winner of the BMW Asian Open, winning the 2004 tournament at the age of 40 years, 132 days. In total, the Spaniard has amassed six titles since turning 40 – the most of any player in European Tour history.
- South African Ernie Els holds the tournament record, both for one round (10-under-par 62) and for the entire championship. He achieved these records in 2005, when he won the BMW Asian Open at 26-under-par (262).
- Els’ round of 62 is also the professional record at Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club. The amateur record is held by Zhiqi Guo, who shot a 3-under-par 69, way back in 1998.
